Every Product Creates Change

At UNfabricated, impact isn’t an afterthought — it’s our foundation.
Through our merchandise model, we’re creating a transparent, ethical supply chain that empowers women, reduces waste, and drives sustainable growth.

From the artisans who craft each piece to the organizations that choose to buy better, every product carries a story of empowerment, equality, and responsibility.

We Empower Women

80% of India's poor live in rural areas and 47% of rural women in India are illiterate and living in poverty. Many migrate from villages to cities to earn a living for themselves and their families back in the village. They work in households such as cleaning, doing their laundry and dishes to earn enough to buy food for themselves and their family. These women don't do this work out of choice but because they lack opportunities to grow as individuals.

At UNfabricated, we identify these women to provide them with a platform where they can pursue what they enjoy such as stitching and fashion designing. 20% of our profits go towards building a training center for these women. We believe in educating and upskilling women for them to make a decent and respectable income for themselves as well as their families.

We Save the Environment!

Fashion and Textile Industry is the 2nd LARGEST polluter in the world after Oil. Textile manufacturers in India generate approximately 5000 yards of surplus fabric due to informal business processes. This surplus fabric ends up in landfills, thereby polluting the environment.

At UNfabricated, we identify this surplus fabric and UPCYCLE it to create apparel, accessories, home furnishings and face masks. We are strong believers of ‘No Waste’. We ensure that we gather waste from cutting room floors while our products are manufactured to ensure no wastage.

Framework for Empowerment

We measure success not just by what we make, but by how we make it. Our upcoming WEST Program (Women’s Empowerment & Skills Training) will offer women holistic tools to thrive — from employment and health education to entrepreneurship and mental wellness.

Global Goals Behind Our Work

1

SDG 1: No Poverty

Why it matters:
241 million workers worldwide still live in extreme poverty, and women are disproportionately affected.

How we align:
Through sustainable merchandise orders, we’ve created consistent work for 100+ women from underserved communities in India, and we’re building pathways for immigrant and refugee women in Canada to step into the economy with dignity.

2

SDG 5: Gender Equality

Why it matters:
The textile industry employs millions of women — yet most face unequal pay, unsafe conditions, and little chance to lead.

How we align:
We work exclusively with vetted, all-women production houses and are developing our WEST program (launching 2026) to give women tools to thrive — from employment to legal awareness and mental health.

3

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production

Why it matters:
The fashion industry produces 92 million tonnes of waste annually and accounts for up to 10% of global COâ‚‚ emissions.

How we align:
We use organic fabrics, create made-to-order merchandise to avoid overproduction, and have repurposed 2,500m of surplus textiles — proving merchandise can be ethical, sustainable, and impactful.
